Thermal Zinc Spraying
Thermal Zinc Spraying, or Hot Zinc Spraying, is a form of protective coating which is applied by using zinc wire which is fused by a flame, and then atomized by compressed air to create a long lasting protection from elements that can cause corrosion in untreated metals. Thermal spraying can be applied in many coats to add extra protection. The advantages of Thermal Zinc Spraying is good corrosion protection, low thermal loading on the workpiece and there is little chance of distortion in the case of larger surfaces.
Advantages of Thermal Spraying
The advantages of thermal zinc spraying is versatility with a comprehensive choice of coating materials to meet the needs of a wide variety of applications, in particular protection from wear and corrosion damage. This process can be repeated many times allowing our technician to build up a series of protective layers. Thick coatings, typically up to 10mm, can be applied and often at high deposition rates. This means that thermal spraying can also be used for component reclamation and spray forming. Parts can be rebuilt quickly and at low cost, usually at a fraction of the replacement price.
